And they tried, even though they were both homesick for Penrose for a long, long time. - that is, the Penrose that lived in memory. Dad could never stand to go back to see what it had become, even after he moved back to Cody in the early 90's. Sometimes memories are best left alone.
I think he meant that Washington wasn't Penrose - True, but it had it's own charm, and going to see Mother and Daddy had the added bonus of Judy, Bob, and tribe. Days were full when we went to visit in the summertime.
