Stanley Allgeier, our First Cousin once Removed

I received word from our second cousin, Jan Brockett, that her father, Stan Allgeier had passed away on July 9th, right after midnight. The only time I met him was when he came to Washington in the late 1980's with his second wife, to visit Dad and Elna. We corresponded quite a bit over the years because he was very interested in genealogy. As you can see, he had a very long life; only the last couple were spent in a nursing home. Be sure to click on the obituary so that you can read it.

Aunt Rose and Uncle Will

This is the last of the photos in the collection of Aunt Rose with "Will" (William) by her side. In all of her letters to our parents, she always wrote of her love and concern for them. Her love of the garden is evident in one her last letters.

"...I'd never get it off in time for spring planting. I am wondering if you would sell me some Iris roots, or whatever they are called; also would it be possible for some Roses and a small "Holly tree" "or Holly shrub" I'm not certain the Holly would grow on this side of the mountains; but would like to try. ........How about it darlings?"

"I'm fine; Of course I do have a lot of complications to contend with, but perhaps by planting time I may overcome most of them and my neighbor girl will help me."

"I know how busy you are; but anytime the opportunity presents itself; I'll be so very Happy to have you come 'over the mountains to see the other side'! as the old Bear did. Think it over; My Dears!!"

"...All my love to Two wonderful People! Aunt Rose 'I am now "89" years old'."

This Picture holds some amazing treasures

Click on this picture to enlarge it. Then, speculate with me - is the baby in the cradle Dad? Is that the lilac plate that is sitting on the buffet back in the corner? Dad has identified the people in the picture as Will Allgeier, Louise Krajicek Blood and Rose Krajicek Allgeier. Tell me what you think. I didn't even see the baby until I enlarged the picture.

Letter From Aunt Rose

This letter is priceless. It gives the history of several treasures that are out there among us. Who has what? Pictures please. I do have the battenburg lace tablecloth and the battenburg lace collar that Grandmother Louise made, and will get them posted.

Krajicek or Mach

This is a great picture. The original is on a daguerrotype (I had to look up how to spell that one). According to the history of the daguerrotype, they were developed in 1839 - other than that I have no idea who this is and how he is connected. Does anyone else know?

Krajiceks or Machs - We may never know

This photo was in an envelope with the other Krajicek records. I wish we knew the story and who the people are.

Krajicek Family Portrait

This portrait was taken by W. G. Passmore in Alliance, Nebraska. . Left to right: Rose, Frank (father), Helen, Stanley, Frankie, Louise, Veronica (Veronika - mother), Henry (baby). The picture was, perhaps, Louise's copy, as her name is written on the back and does say "Louisa Krajicek". When you enlarge the picture, take a close look at Louise and then look at Judy's pictures when she was about the same age. I think there is a striking similarity.

Pages from Louise Krajicek's LIttle Book

These are copies of three pages from a little booklet that is written in Louise (Louisa) Krajicek's handwriting. The booklet has been hand stitched together with little red threads. As you can imagine, the pages are showing a lot of aging. The first page that shows here is a shopping list. I have assumed that Louise has transcribed the Czech for us on the next page, which reads "Toothpowder, 1 oz praepared chalk, 1 oz Irish root, Borax powder 5cents, fervo Essenz of pepermint 0 cents". Is this a true translation - I don't have any idea. If anyone would like a complete copy of the little booklet, please let me know and I will email the copy to you.

Note to our Czech Friends

It was exciting to see that someone in the Prague area has been browsing the Blood Family Blog. After spending a considerable amount of time searching documents, etc. looking for any thread that will help us trace our Czech ancestors, my hope is that someone out there might know something about the Krajicek and Mach families. If those names are of interest to you, please email me at tannerpaka@yahoo.com
