More Treasures

In an attempt to put together a little bit of history behind some of the things I have in my "treasure cabinet", I need some help. If you know any of the story behind these two treasures, will you please come to my rescue. Anything you can tell me about the bowl or the salt and pepper shakers would be appreciated. And if we end up with more than one story about either or both items, that will just make them a little more intriguing. Thanks a bunch!

The bowl, I know. It belonged to great-grandmother Christenson. It has to be quite old. The bowl was used for fruit, or????? The pewter salt and peppers I do not know about - Judy? Louise?

Thanks, Elizabeth. Is the bowl something that came over when she immigrated? The pewter stand makes me wonder. If that is so, she immigrated in 1861.

A picture is worth a thousand words. I do now remember the shakers. And how I loved them. I wish I knew the story about them.

P.S. I don't remember the bowl,though.

Check for any letters somewhere on the stand and the spoon - I think there is some silver involved there.

I believe that the pewter shakers were a wedding gift from Dad's side of the family. The little blue glass set was also from them. (I'll try to get them on sometime this winter.) They would look lovely on a table for Thanksgiving, but did not suffice for a working man's shaker.

The glass bowel is so lovely. It was one of the few things that Mother received out of the division of Grandpa & Grandma Wasden's belongings.

Dwight and Steve, I know salt and pepper shakers and pretty bowls are not exactly your thing, but do you have any recollection of either of these items?
