There is no place like home. For me, even though the bridge only exists in photos, such as this one, and in our memories, it will always be one of those landmarks that tells me we are almost home. Thanksgiving time seems to bring out the warmest of memories of our Penrose home, wonderful food smells, and hugs to go around. Thank you for a happy memory jog.

There are so many memories of the old Penrose bridge. It was our goal on many walks, including one warm Thanksgiving Day when we went after dinner and the dishes without jackets, and walked down and back, and then Climbing down on the center pier in the summer to sit and try to catch a fish with our sticks, string, and safety pins (once a fish hook that we lost on Bothilde's front lawn), listening to the occasional car go overhead as the dust filtered down through the cracks. We are all indebted to Dwight for his really fine pictures of this old bridge.

I think the books have given way to something quite beautiful. Must be a mystery!!!!

Elizabeth should not stay up so late. She gets sassy. Bitter Creek and the Penrose Bridge were the two scenic places we had on the long ridge on the school bus.
