Epistle from Ann Nov. 25 1950

Sat. Nov. 25, 1950

Dear Dwight,

How are you?  I'm fine.  We miss you.  I never got to say goodby to you [in September when I left home to go back to school].  I had a good Thanksgiving, how about you?  I really like school.  Now we get more work done now that you are gone.  Judy is bad now that your gone.  Are you going to come home for Christmas?

Excuse me. "Judy is bad now that your gone." What does that mean? In what way could I have been bad? Maybe I was trying to take Dwight's position in the family.
Cute letter from a little girl who must have been 6 years old in 1950?

I was almost 8. And I suspect I had to say something "shocking" to let Dwight know he was missed. Just think of how sad he would have felt if we didn't notice things were different with him gone.
I am so sorry, Judy. The only bad I can think of is reflected in your letters to Dwight at about this same time. I think that is about as "bad" as you ever got.
