Happy Easter

I know, it's been posted before.  But here's a reminder of Easter egg decorating.  As I recall, some times it was more like the Easter egg wars.  But then I was a mere small boy confronted with four sisters and I had to stick up for my Easter egg rights.

Ah, yes, I remember an Easter egg war in Ralston that resulted in Dad's tossing the whole batch. That was one way to settle some squabbling siblings. (I'm sure I had nothing to do with the escalation.) But, wasn't it fun to dye the eggs, and then hold the cloth to transfer the designs to the eggs. I felt bad when I stayed one Easter with a grandchild who had never experienced dyeing Easter eggs, nor having a hunt. For that one year only, we had such fun, and then ended up eating our productions.

Dying Easter eggs was indeed serious work. Just look at the intent look on our faces. This photo contains such fun pieces of Penrose - the clock shelf, the haying marquetry piece on the living room wall, etc. Sweet memories.
