Uncle Norman's photo of Dad squinting in the sun, taken the same tme as Judy's polka dot dress photo below. Uncle Norman's car in the background. I remember being taken for rides to Lovell and to Powell with Uncle Norman to go to the movies in this car. Note leaning telephone pole for clothesline, slab covered coalbin, and probably stuff for kids to play with on the ground. Photo resurrected a bit from the original.

I love the smile. Thanks for working on these photos. They need to be included in our "archives".
I can't remember Mother in these pictures. but there is a picture of Louise and me, and the bassinet picture of Stephen - very dark, but you can see the baby. Can't remember about Ann??????
I often have dreams about that piece of ground that is directly behind Daddy and the coal shed. It is always a lush vegetable garden with lots of strawberries thrown in and a few flowers around the edges. The soil is perfect. Sometime I am irrigating it, sometimes hoeing and sometimes making wonderful discoveries of new things.
I can't remember when the dreams started, but it has been a few years now. Don't know why, but those weeds are only a cover to the potential that was there. Love the picture of Daddy, the car and the hills.
Judy, your dream actually came true when my five and I lived back in the house. Uncle Norman came with his new little John Deere garden tractor and plowed up the whole space, and gave me some long furrows. After consulting with Mother and Daddy about the soil, I bought some agricultural gypsum that Brig and I spread all over, and the we planted - everything from corn to peanuts. (The peanuts grew, bloomed, and tried to put little peanuts underground, but the season wasn't long enough. We had glorious tomatoes, peppers, etc. I canned 100 pints of beans that summer. So the potential was there, for sure.
Garden of Eden?
