Name That Cat!

How does a cat keep from freezing to death in the Wyoming winter cold? Where did we get this cat? How old was he? Any stories to share? And who would give a cat such a name?

Was this Holstein? All I remember about that cat was how hardy he was - used to disappear for ages, and then show up to recuperate from his battle wounds. Dwight will know - he and Dad had all the cats in the barn at milking time.

Holtein was still around when I was milking cows. He spent his off time down at Kellers. He was quite the ladies man.

Holstein was a great cat - except he sure didn't like being dressed up in doll clothes. Go figure!

Good job! We agree on the name: Hostein. But whence did he come and how did he become ours?

Didn't he come from the same place as all the other cats, as in a gift from Grandpa Wasden?

Holstein was a battle tested tomcat who showed up regularly with a torn and bleeding ear, scratches, scars, and memorabilia of his turf battles. He was also a coward and could scurry up to the top of the yard light pole in a flash. He liked to sleep on the belly of a Holstein steer and went up and down, up and down, with the breathing of the steer. Hence, the name Holstein.

So that is how a cat stays warm in the dead cold of winter! I so love this picture. You can see the fields and hills in the background. If you really look you can see Grandma's house. Dwight's Baby Brownie has another winner!
