Louise

Our first stop on our way to Orem last Wednesday was at Louise's home in Layton. We had a great, if short visit - She and I can compare quilts and quilting in a minimum of time, because of the wonderful minutes (?) we have spent on the phone keeping up with each other's life. As my older sister, she has been a wonderful example of a mother who has managed to weld her family together in many ways. May you and my other sisters have a day of good remembering tomorrow.

And a Happy Mother's day to you, Elizabeth. Louise, I love how you have found so many ways to be content in your world. That must be a source of great peace to you. Love you!

Smile, you're on candid camera. I wondered how that picture turned out. I was glad for your visit, I welcome those times. What you said about welding my family was very sweet, but I do no more than what each of my siblings do to keep strong family ties. I will ever be grateful for Mother's influence in helping us to keep a closeness in our family relationships. I will always remember her saying how she wished the distance between each of us could be shortened. I

Boy, oh boy, do I remember that statement from mother. At age 23 with 3 babies, each 1 year apart, living 2 days away from home, I found great comfort in those words. But getting back to Louise, she is the calm leader of us all. I'm sure happy that Elizabeth got to go visiting!

The undershirt question wasn't nearly as tricky, for me, as the requirement to wear those ugly knee socks. My solution was to put on short socks underneath the ugly long socks and then take off the long socks on the school bus and then I would stuff them in my coat pocket until the end of the day. The undershirt deal was fairly mild for me - with the resistance of older sisters, I was not held to such a high standard for as long as others, so it seems.
