Back to a long-ago 4th of July

These pictures were part of a treasure trove that was found in an old album that Uncle Norman gave to me. The Fourth of July may be a few weeks off, but I wanted to post these pictures while I have the pcitures out. I do not recognize all of the people in the pictures. The bottom one, of course, is Ann and Neal in the box in the tree. As usual, Ann has a smile on her face, although this probably wasn't her choice of what to do. The middle picture shows our gray Ford (on the left). You can always pick out Dad because of his light felt Stetson (hat), which he wore everywhere. And Judy is obvious, with her plaid coat. Enlarge the other pictures and let us know who you see????

Ann was cute, even in a box! In the top picture that must be your back at the bottom. And is that Louise folding the quilt?

P.S. I do remember this occasion and how fun to see these pictures. Thanks, Elizabeth.

I was wondering if that was me folding the quilt but I have no remembrance of this picnic. Where did we go? Fun pictures anyway.

This was up on Bald Ridge on the road going into Sunlight. It has to be you folding the quilt, and I think you can see my back in one of the pictures (pigtails give it away.) Can't pick out Mother, though. Newell is obvious in one of the pictures.

I was scared to death to be in that box. That is the only memory I have of that day - traumatized for life! My fear of heights probably had its beginnings here. Just kidding. These are fun pictures.
It is fun to check in on the blog from CA. We are in the middle of wine country. Beautiful country, great visiting with family.

Glad to hear from you, Ann - sorry about your traumatization, but that doesn't explain the fear of heights by several of your sisters.

Ann, how nice that you are checking in. We are all praying for good things for your family, especially Nathan....and next week Laura.

Obviously I have no clue what is going on! I remember the picnic clearly. One of very few family gatherings with relatives beyond Penrose.

Wasn't this a picnic that held a little extra significance for the House family? If my memory is just a little in tact, hadn't they just bought their new car and that made this little "outing" even more of an adventure? (Or is that a real question? Or -----)
