I think you took this one, Dwight. But I used to iron the red and white striped dress, and Ann's outfit. The big Monkey Ward iron was hard to handle, and I often burned myself. My only reward for doing this job was that I could hide the Saturday Evening Post under a pile of clothes, and when I'd ironed so many items, I could read a page.
Let's face it. Elizabeth was very goal oriented. Notice the chevron lines in Ann's center bodice and the spiral striping on the cording on my dress? Mother must have been in a very creative stage because both of these were a lot of work.
