Now you are talking. In some of those pictures of Holstein, his nose is well damaged as per tradition. Ann and Steve were definitely the more affectionate toward this rather fat cat.The Lion King is "Scratchie", a cat Grandpa delivered in a gunny sack. He was so wild but he eventually became tame enough to enjoy a good back rub. We did love our cats!
I can remember Grandpa giving me a cat to take home when I took the cows to pasture one summer morning. I got a royal scolding for that one, but was finally allowed to keep it, feeding it milk for a time from a jar lid. I can't even remember what the cat looked like, but the cats quickly became community property. We could never understand why Mother wouldn't let us take them into the house - I can remember trying to sneak a kitten or two past the guard, but it didn't pay.
Ok, so this gets into important stuff. Depending on the date of the top cat, (a little play on words), that could even be Pepper. She (and that is what got her into trouble)was a Grandpa cat and I really loved that cat. The only problem was she kept having kittens. Dad said it was every three months, but ------. One day he got so tired of kittens that he took Pepper for a little ride to find a new home. First he took her out on Emblem and let her off near a nice home (so he said). It didn't take her very long to find her way home. The next time he took her across the river and up on the hill close to Edens. It took her a little longer to come home that time. And then one sad day she just didn't come home (another so he said story). It must have been very frustrating to Mother and Dad, and I don't imagine it was enjoyable to try and keep the cat population down. The cats were fun to have around, they just needed to not have kittens.
If that cat is Pepper, believe me, Ann would be the one to know. These cats were her babies.
Ann had nicer hats than I did.
Hats? Cats? Sounds like a Dr. Seuss book to me.Judy, I can't even begin to be that trustworthy. Our cat family was quite diversified, and several of them looked like the previous generation. Do you suppose they were all related?
