Where were you standing when you took this picture?
I can't remember, but it seems there was a place where runoff went into the river and as I recall this may have been the place. It's quite a bit of water, though, so it may forever remain a mystery since everyone else who might know is probably dead.
This is the place where Dorothy's friend, Taubi McCrary, slipped on a mossy rock and fell in. The river was running pretty high - scary currents. Today, there wouldn't be a problem - you could wade the whole thing. Also, remember that Uncle Brooks (as I recollect the story) did not want to get baptized, because the river was to act as the baptismal font. However, this was one of the prettier spots on the north side of the river.
