Here is the second of the two family photos on our outing. Dad, by deduction, took the photo. I'm not aware of any other photo during the mid- to late-40s of all six of us. Note Steve is being a brt.
Glad that Dwight could be in this picture. Louise always looked so "put-together", and I was at the stage when Mother would shake her head and say that (1) I had no waist, and (2) I was built like her. That was the year I managed to prove her wrong (still have no waist), but I sprouted, and by 6th grade, I was taller than all of the boys in my class.
No other photo speaks more clearly than this one that Mother did indeed raise two families of three each. It is obvious that the 2nd family was easier and better behaved.

I never thought of it that way, but the two family separation does stand out in this photo. In that sense, the photo is rather remarkable, isn't it?
