FFA Banquet 1949

FFA Banquet 1949 my senior year.  I was FFA pres and Wyo state pres, so I got to preside at the banquet.  Dad and Mom on my right.  State Vo-Ag supervisor and Hecht family on my left.  In the American Legion Hall where the Homesteader Museum now is.  I was definitely headed for an outstanding career in farming, milking cows, raising hogs, hoeing beets.  At least we had nice jackets to wear to school!

I don't remember ever seeing this photo before. Mother looks so young - and so do you (which you were). you really did make your mark in FFA and I suspect you had fun doing it. Your public speaking skills were honed and your winning ways in front of a group of people probably helped you be the kind of teacher you became. What a charmer. I wish Dad had leaned back just a little so we could see his face.

This is historic. Ditto to everything Ann said. I loved enlarging the photo to catch the detail. Is that Red Bessler on the right against the wall? And is that Millward Simpson next to Mother? Are those the pants to your gray suit that you wore for your senior picture? Look at the curled hairdos. What style. What class.
Dwight where did you get all of that hair? Try cropping the picture to leave just you. You were a cutie.

And is that Bob Hecht on the far left?

Just took another look - Ruth and George Hecht on the left by who I think is Bob?

Who is the man next to the Hechts? (Between the Hechts and you?) Bob Hecht has been gone for years (he had quite a career as an auctioneer). George and Ruth, Mother and Dad, and Milward Simpson. At the second table from the left is Laness Northrup (French horn, Louise), and Delbert Dalke. (SP?) A piece of the past, for sure. Dwight, you were always so sure and so in control. I remember you practicing your speech forever for the speech contest that year.

I was always proud that you were my brother and of your accomplishments, and successes. I don't know if you knew that. It was fun to get the reports of your trips.

And here, you have the comments of your adoring sisters. We weren't such a pain in the neck after all. Just look at what Louise said.
