What Time of Day Was This Taken?

Check out the shadow - Again, my focus is horribly off, but this shows the burn barrell, and a little more of the Penrose scenery.

Of course! It's lunch time!

Lunch time? Hardly! I can tell you didn't have to tell the time by the sun when we were thinning and hoeing beets (and beans). It was early in the morning! Who is that standing in the gate? Judy?

Yes, it is Judy. Even though Dad's face isn't clear, with the tilt of his straw hat I can see the mischievous grin.

Fun pictures, Ann. Keep them coming. I'm sorry you had the flu, but love the pictures.

P.S What's neat is seeing all these things that happened after I left home - and hearing about little bits of your lives.

Was thinking the same as Louise. I left home so early that there were whole other chapters of family history I know nothing about and these photos help fill in the blanks. I don't think Dad ever had a watch, but I remember how he would get off the tractor or pause where we were working and check his shadow, and, sure enough, he was usually right on the minute.

I think Dad's first watch, at least that I remember, was the one he bought with S&H Green stamps on a trip to Billings. Actually I think the photo has been posted of us walking down the sidewalk in Billings on that day.
