Love the haircut and the shorts. The haircut was a "Judy dare". The shorts and tops we made that summer out of pink and white checks. If I recall correctly, we could wear them around home, but not to town. Some fun things in this photo - the bread bowl, the cast iron frying pan (which I have and use constantly), the electric stove - what else do you see?

Did you con Steve into taking this so we could both be in it? Your shorts are shorter than my shorts...because you were more daring. Sharing the kitchen chores was when much of sharing of other important things also took place.
Oh yes there is a kitchen sink! What a luxury. This must be 1958-59 when we finally had running water in the house.
Was the stove the old home ec stove?
yes, it was. With the colored lights for the various temperatures.
I didn't know that about the stove. I just remember when it came into the house in the spring of 1953 while I was busy being the Madwoman, and Ann kept me up to date on things at home. Judy and Ann, I can't believe Mother let you wear shorts!
That is also the stove that was struck by lightening and the clock never worked again.
The shorts - hmmmm. They weren't nearly as daring as the swim suits we "made".
That stove was still in the house in the summer of 1971 when I and my five moved out to live there for a couple of years. It did get replaced with a new one (of my own), then.
I don't remember any swimsuits! Explain.
