Rare Early Day Photo of Penrose

This rare photo shows, from left to right, a couple or a family in a buggy, the Penrose Schoolhouse, a man in the road, and the Penrose Church.  Plus a few horse apples on the road. The outline of the J. B. Wasden house appears  in the background.  Double click, and you can see the two outhouses at the school, and the Wasden house shows up more clearly.  And these were the good old days in Penrose!

Where oh where did you find this picture. That is a great picture to add to the family collection.

Any ideas about what the shorter building to the right of Grandpa's house might be? Great picture. Imagine riding to town in that buggy!

It's too early for our little white house. Could it be the little log house that Whitey and Alice live in that was on the west side of the road going up to Grandma and Grandpa's house?

This is a wonderful picture. Would this be the kind of buggy that Grandpa would take to and from Cowley to get the Wasden children to the Big Horn Academy? Mother talked about coming home for weekends on Fridays and then returning on Sunday afternoon to begin a new week. I would think that the ride would be long and very cold. For Grandpa as well as the kids.

The building, whatever it is, appears to be a bit east and then south of the church, so it isn't likely the log building near Grandpa's. We may have to wait until the next life to find out unless Burchell knows. What will we do, I wondered, when we have posted all the antiquities? And then, it hit me, we are the antiquities!

Antiquities!?!?! Please, dear brother, I am certain we all have years to go before we qualify (at least some of us).

Dwight has it right. We are the antiquities. Let's see which one will post their gray head first!
