Tilda Christena Christenson [Wasden]

This is an early picture of our grandmother, Tilda Christena Christenson [Wasden]. The original is either a tintype or a daguerreotype. The original frame was a gold-colored filagree. I removed it because it appeared to be eating into the original picture. She looks like a very solemn little girl - not the mischevous girl who, along with her half-sister Emma, created fanciful tales to tell their little sister about things that happened when they herded the cows.

Don't you love that little square face? Notice her dress has tucks going up the skirt. Was that to lengten it as she grew taller? So practical.
