This is another of the unidentified family pictures that we have in our posession. Are these the grandparents? (What a wonderful moustache!) We have another picture of the woman standing by herself. Hopefully someone could examine the clothing and come up with some clues. Look at the watch pinned to the woman's dress. And the older boy's sailor suit is wonderful! Is it European? Is the child on the man's lap a girl or a boy? And what an enchanting expression on the face of the girl to the right. Wish we knew the story!

When I look at the watch and then remember the watch that was in Mother's chip carved box that sat on the dresser in their bedroom, could that be the same watch? I also have an empty watch case that came from Mother's chip carved box that looks similar. I suspect we can make the treasures be anything we want them to be - but how I would love to know the rest of the story.
The watch in this picture hit me with the same thoughts. Who has that watch? Are there any identifications on Ann's watch case? Ah...the plot thickens.
Louis has THE watch (I just talked with her). The watch case I have has a "glass" front, an engraved back. The inside has a stamp on it that says Philadelphia Watch Case Co. #8056377. It is a mystery.
The watch I have is the one that Roscoe gave Louise as a weddding gift. Or so says the little note on the box. I'm not even sure when I came by it, or who gave me the information.
That means that Louise also has the opals that were on that watch chain. Remember how beautiful they are when you hold them up to the light. Steve was asking about them.
I remember how special the watch was to Dad - and the opals always seemed a little magical to me. Fun memory
I do have a watch with a chain with the tiny opals (but not the memory of them that Ann and Judy have) I do not remember when I acquired it, but the box it was in has a sticky note that says the watch was given to Louise by Roscoe as a wedding gift. Is it indeed the same watch as in the picture?
My personal feeling is that Louise's watch and the watch in photo are not the same. If Louise's watch was a gift from Roscoe to Louise for a wedding present, it seems likely that if there is a family connection there it would be on the Blood side. To me this photo is definitely European. Look at the children's clothing and hair style. They belong as a Robert Lewis Stevenson illustration.
