I realize we had this conversation a few postings ago, but it is way too hot to work outside. I just ran across this as I was looking for something else and thought it might stir some memories for someone. The copyright on this is 1949/1950.
Remember the Cinderella fabric. Mother got some, and we made ruffly half-aprons out of it. We'd be right in style today. The movie dates from innocent days - Dwight took Judy, Ann, Steve, and me to the movie when Mother and Dad were gone. (Where?) Ann thinks it was on a Sunday afternoon. Oops.
Steve or Judy can help out with this, but according to my very faulty memory, we went to church, then went to the Powell Park to eat lunch and then went to the movie. I think Mom and Dad were in Utah - was this about the time they brought home the piano?
That means our parents were at General Conference, right? Dwight was only being careful about using gas. But where did he get the money for movie tickets?
I do remember Sunday night Family Home Evening was sometimes held at the Midway Drive-in.
But about the comic book. The worn look only represents the millions of times the pages were lovingly turned and Cinderella once again found her Prince Charming.
No, the piano came later. That trip to Salt Lake to April Conference was made with Norman and Cindy. They came home in a blinding blizzard, with Dad and Norman taking turns driving and sitting on the front fender trying to see the road and direct traffic. The experience was very scary. The vote was made, and, as I remember, the piano came in the late spring or summer??? Help us here, Louise, Dwight. That would have been 1948, because I was in the 8th grade that fall. Now, we've segued from Cinderella to the piano.
